I'm Her Chosen Person!

This special lady is now 4 1/2 years old, and has been with me four of those years, since I rescued her. She is, as most Meezers are, completely devoted to (besotted with?) her Person. But - she has never been a lapcat. She has to be right next to me, sleeps plastered to my side at night, even under the covers, if it's especially cold. But never on my lap. Tonight that all changed. I was knitting, she was at my feet on the floor. I reached to stroke first head, then chin, then began to croon to her...she stood and moved to the side of the chair, I "kissed" and motioned up with my fingers. She jumped to the wingchair arm. Then slowly, one paw at a time, stepped into my lap. And settled down, finally stretching out one long front leg in relaxation. Oh MY. I feel so honored, so special. Her Chosen Person. Will she ever do this again? If she does, will I ever knit again?  Posted by Picasa

It doesn't take too long to learn to knit with a lap full of wondrous feline. All three of ours have learned that lap time with 'Mommie' means yarn, needles & books along with ear & chin scritches. I've even learned to type with both wrists pinned down by 15#s of Tiger.

Oh, I love it! How special when they choose to be close.

I hope you've had a wonderful week and have a very special upcoming weekend!

That's cute! My siamese cats are forceful when they want to sit on my lap and I'm knitting. I've kind of trained them not to sit on my lap when I'm knitting because it is awkward and they usually want to play with the yarn . . . but sometimes I'm not given a choice in the matter. She will just come and plop herself down and make it very difficult for me to move her.

I know what you mean! My 14 1/2-year-old wonderful calico loves to sit with me when I'm trying to type or when I'm knitting. I think it's because she feels your attention is then on her. But it's definitely HER choice. There's really nothing like it. Thinking about that prompted me to add a photo to MY blog!
Thanks!

How adorable! Who needs to knit when you have a warm fuzzy bundle of Siamese in your lap. My Siamese take turns; luckily there are no fights... such good kitties...

I honor the place in you,

which is of love, truth, light, and peace.

When you are centered in that place in you,

and I am centered in that place in me,

we are one.
