It's Just Common Sense...
That PH- word? Rhymes with "fish?" It's too easy to get caught up in it on Facebook and Twitter. If there's a link in the email, type it into your browser yourself. Don't "click." And if you'd rather not click my link? Go to MSNBC's webpage and look for The Red Tape Chronicles.
*wink*
I joined Facebook because my high school class was passing info on get-togethers there. I think I'd rather get an email!

That's not my reason I haven't joined Facebook but it's a good one! A wee bit scary.
I will probably stick with Facebook because I can keep up with family and old friends NOT into fiber (can you believe... there ARE such people? and that I am related to them? Me either!).
I joined Face book to keep up with a friend's yarn store. I did get more information from a high school classmate, but we did it in emails. Being wary is a good thing.
Ooh, thanks for justifying my wariness about joining those sites -- I neither Tweet (is that right?) nor am I on Facebook. (I'll also admit that, generally speaking, I'm already in touch with the people I want to be in touch with from past times in my life; who knows who else might be able to find me, though!!) ;)
The whole internet is one big time suck.
Thanks for that info. I am going to ask my kids about their emails tomorrow and go over the do's and don'ts.
I have no interest in Facebook (I don't want that much info about me on the internet), but I've actually been trying out Twitter. (I've mocked Twitter for ages and here I am...being a total hypocrite!) So far, I like it. It's easier than blogging and amuses me.
I second Birdsong...FB (aka CrackBook) is a good way to keep up with old friends and family. I bailed out of Plurk in less than a week and Twitter just scares me. LOL
I can't join anything else online, no time and some good reasons it appears not to. I'm with you, I'd rather get an email, or a comment on my blog.
Hugs,G
Another notorious "ph"-isher is tagged-dot-com. Just got hit by that one the other day as they very cleverly use a friend's name and details to look legit.
