A Contest and A Vote!

Everyone got to see Glady in her debut over the weekend, and I hinted that I'd be asking your opinion on my rethinking of the closure. I'm going to make this into a contest, so please read everything before you do anything! Don't want you to miss my fine print (which isn't all that fine, it's the same sized font! lolol)

So here you go. First I'd like you to vote in the comments for one of three options for the closure...the first choice is this one below - it's the ribbon closure.

Then, the second choice is the fabric loop closure which is the same style I use on the majority of the bags I make:

Finally, it was suggested to me today (Thanks, Melanie!) that I use the same elastic loop and small button closure that I use on the Oressa and Rose needle cases...which is something I'd not even considered. So that's option number 3:

Now. Once you've decided what your vote will be, (everyone seems to be doing this lately, and it's not a bad idea, so I'm going to try it, too!)

Let your blog readers know about the contest on your blog and put a link to your post in your vote comment here so I can go look at it. If you do, I'll put your name in the hat twice!

I'll leave the contest running until Friday night at midnight EST. Then give myself over the weekend to get everyone into the hat the right number of times and get a totally impartial someone to draw the winning name. Then I'll post the winner later on Sunday night.

What will you win? How about Glady?
;)

I think I like the ribbon closure best... that way the user decides if it's flat like a book or rolled up like a well... roll LOL

I think I like #3 the best.

Or a burrito!
Hi, I'm your newest fan! Check my blog!
I like both the elastic and the ribbon. I have a tendency to over stuff things so the ribbon would be great for that problem.
I love your bags!

I also like the ribbon closure. The ribbon closure looks like it wouldn't work very long. And the elastic closure would pull it too much. So go for the ribbon one.

I vote for the ribbon closure as well. I think it looks the prettiest. I also posted a link to your contest on my blog. You can check it out on this post, http://craftylilly.typepad.com/yarnandbeads/2008/03/baggy-heels-who.html

Definitely #3 for me. I've ribbon closures fray get all ratty or they end up flopping around in my bag or getting tangled, etc., etc.

I definitely think your standard fabric closure will hold up the best... I love the convenience of elastic but know from hard experience that it stretches out all too soon, and the ribbon is too slippery and awkward... keep going with what has been a sure thing for you!

I like the elastic loop on my Oressa. I just posted about your contest on my blog

I like the fabric as it will hold up for the long haul. The ribbon is pretty, too. But, I'd pick fabric.

I've enjoyed ribbon closures before - please use ribbon.

The elastic loop - since it will self-adjust based on how much is inside.

I like the ribbon myself. Good for over stuffing and I just like ribbons. :-) I linked to your post this morning at my blog

I think I'd pick the ribbon closure - it looks like it would stay closed the best (as well as being pretty), and even if it didn't last as long it's not much trouble to sew on a replacement ribbon.

I like the elastic loop. It works great on my Oressa and that thing is packed full. I posted on my blog too. :-)

I pick #3 because as stylish as the other two are I think with the way I tote my stuff around those needles would try to escape...which is why I love my dpn case because everything stays put. I put a link to you on my blog and a pic from greener times. :)

I think I like the idea of elastic the best just because it'll keep thing secure.

I like the idea of an elastic loop around the whole thing - or something so that the top and bottom don't poof out like they are a bit.

I like the button closure #3. To mee it appears to be pretty secure I try to think of how stuff gets tossed around in my crafting area and I think that would hold up the best.

I like the ribbon! It's the prettiest, even if not the most practical!

I vote for #3 elastic; can't wait to get my very own!

Is the contest still on? Fabric looks much sturdier and professional.

It's possible that round elastic would look OK.

I'm thinking that for durability you should stick to your standard fabric closure. It's very smooth and pretty too. Elastic and ribbons tend to break when clumsy folks (of which I am one) pull too hard or catch them on things.

I'll vote for # 3, it looks pretty cool.

For prettiness, my vote is definitely cast for the ribbon closure. For practicality, I may be swayed toward the elastic, though... but the ribbon looks best!

My ribbons always fray. I like the elastic option - maybe with a few extra holes sewn in down the elastic for closing options?

Hmmm.... I'm going to suggest an alternative, which would be a thicker ribbon that either wraps to the other side or passes through a button loop and ties in the middle.

I like #3 the best. It's least likely to catch on anything. I love the way the ribbon closure looks, but eventually it would come undone, and I can never get a bow tied as pretty as it was meant to be.

The ribbon closure is pretty but I'm a practical gal. I like #3 best.

The ribbon's awfully pretty, but I think I would vote for the elastic...especially if it were dyed to match the case. Or, if white, blended more with the fabric of the case.

I know...picky, picky.

I would have to vote on option #3. I love the look of the ribbon closure, but there is nothing worse than having something with a ribbon closure come loose in your bag and have everything fall out.

The elastic gets the vote purely due to safety and convience.

I like the third option best.

Elastic loop! Elastic loop!

It's fast and tidy. The ribbon looks pretty, but I don't want to waste precious seconds when I need to get to a particular needle! :)

I vote for number 3. It is functional, neat and durable.

As others have said, the ribbon is pretty... but the elastic will be self-adjusting and last longer in the end. The fabric strap is my second choice; it is nice too.
