When in Doubt-Follow Directions!
Ok. Coronet #1 is complete. Think this one is mine. I know the pattern now. What's wrong with this? Well...I'm notorious for thinking I know what I'm doing and bumbling along - I tried to pick up stitches with the wrong side facing as the directions said. Then my stockinette was on the wrong side - take a look at the pattern photo really closely - it sure looks to me as if the body of the hat comes straight off the cabled band. It doesn't - the cabled band is turned up. Of course, I looked at how I'd picked up the stitches and said, "That's not right." Ripped. Did I read the entire pattern? Nope. Picked up stitches with the right side facing and went merrily along! Well...long story short - I have a lot more Peace Fleece than I expected to have when I finished this because I have about 2.5 inches less hat! Live and learn!!! It's just fine. It's just not as warm as it could be. So that's what someone who lives in my climate needs. But for gifts? Well, I think I'll follow the pattern from now on! LOLOL!

Sallee, I love your hat! Oh, pattern schmattern. : )
BTW, I just got your nostepinne in the mail today. I sent it priority USPS, so it should be there soon.
You wouldn't believe I drove by the post office twice the past couple of days and kept forgetting. Oh well, I finally got there today!
I love the color of your hat! What a beautiful pastel shade! If you have to look rilly-rilly close to see an error, it doesn't count!! Maybe you could knit ear flaps with a tie under the chin? Naaah!!!
It's very pretty!
:)
So, you have just created a new pattern variation! It still looks great!
A pattern is only a suggestion!
Great hat! It looks wonderful on you!

"mistakes" make for interesting variations, as long as they work. this one seems to work! I also "jump the gun" all the time, assuming I know, not reading all...
I did the exact same thing when I made that hat! I wound up ripping it out and redoing it, but boy was there a lot of salty language when I realized my mistake.
Yours looks great, though -- and that's all that matters in the end, right?
It might be a mistake, but it's a beautiful mistake - also known as, being creative... Lovely hat, lovely color. Wear it in good health!
LOL. Your "mishap" reminds me of the HUUUGE camisole I was knitting for the Amazing Lace. After going by the swatch I made, I later realized that my gauge became so loose and big that 2 needle sizes smaller and a yarn change was needed. (SIGH).
=:8
I didn't know it turned up, either - but now I'll remember if I ever make it! It turned out cute.
