Good Night, Irene...And Good Riddance!

I'm not the only one who's delighted to see the end of an awful storm, and I know we're lucky Irene wasn't worse, but after seeing historic covered bridges washed away in Vermont (and Norma sent a video of the flood waters that took down Grafton Cheese - which goes down in lore as a piece of my vegetarian family's heritage), worrying all weekend about family members in various parts of Virginia (everyone is safe, and with lots less damage to property than at first feared). I think it's definitely time to say good-bye to this storm!

What a week! First an earthquake (which I apparently never noticed, even tho' the rest of my office coworkers were pretty shaken up by it!) and then this massive storm. I think it's time for the promised week of beautiful pre-fall weather...

Of course, I didn't have too much time to think about you know from those tickers above, there's precious little time left to prepare for my upcoming shows, so you know the Bernina worked overtime this past week and weekend, too, right?

Here's a sampling (there's a Knitnana and a Sidekick down there):

I made up several Rosy-Posy bags

in a variety of colors

We really are working overtime in this you can see

Both Sewing Assistant #1 and Sewing Assistant #2 (in Training)

are completely worn out.

My wish this week is for calm skies and clear sailing. We could all use it.

Remember When This Was A Knitting Blog?

Yeah, me, too. Geesh, I miss it. This is the point in my year when I'm positively aching for my needles, for wool, for cables and lace, mittens, socks, shawls, scarves. And the one time of the year when I cannot, even a little bit, let myself sit with them, as I'd never get back to the sewing machine - at this point in the process of preparing for shows, I'm sick to death of the Bernina (and wondering if Bernie feels the same?)

But both Margene and Birdsong have done this meme and while I rarely do those anymore, I promised I would do this one. So here goes:

1. My favorite things to knit – To look at my finished projects on Ravelry, you might say Socks. You'd be wrong. I love lace. In any form, but mostly in shawls. And while I have a few made, I have far more on my queue. Unfortunately for my stash, I bought up many many projects worth of laceweight only to discover that I really prefer to work in fingering weight, so don't be surprised if you see a stash busting sale here, soon.

2. My least favorite thing about knitting – Like many folks, I expect, I dislike the lack of time to work on my projects. I dream of becoming independently wealthy (oh, I really must buy a lottery ticket) or finding a well-heeled Sugar Daddy who will support me in my passion for wool...unfortunately, I don't see either of those things happening anytime soon.

3. My first finished object – was a K1P1 scarf, I believe. I still have it. I worked on two different acrylic (squeaky) feather and fan ripple afghans for years but never finished either and they finally went into the dumpster. So I'm pretty sure the scarf was the first FO.

4. If I could take only one yarn brand to my desert island it would be – a boat load of Koigu/Cherry Tree Hill/(any hand-dyed with the same base) fingering yarn. I'm reminded of the old ad "if I've only one life let me live it as a blonde" (which I was once, about the time of that ad, btw). If I've only one yarn on my desert island, let me handle only Koigu.

5. My current knitting obsession is – Well....that I CAN'T pick it up! I have several projects in process, and right now, the only knitting time I get is at lunchtime and frankly, the socks I'm working on? Patons Kroy. 'Nuf said?

September will come and go. And maybe I can get back to this being a (mostly) knitting blog...
(one can only hope, right?)

Running In Place...

Actually, I do quite a bit of walking in place when I use my Leslie Sansone DVDs...but that's not what this post is about - and it's a drive-by at that:

I'm still sewing...(baglets up there...drawstrings and 10" straight needle cases down below)

And in the photo below, there are all sorts of bags, including a couple of the big Mavis knitting bags that I almost never create ahead of time, but for the TKGA Knit & Crochet Show I am making a few of them. By the way, if you're interested in going to the Greensboro event at the end of next month, I can offer a coupon towards general admission. Just let me know if you're interested.

Today, a few knitting fabrics arrived in the mail, and ONE of them came in a USPS Priority Mail envelope - the old lightweight cardboard ones that I don't get very often anymore...). You know? The ones with the TEARSTRIPS?

The Meezer was gleeful...and I kept her in the office chair playing until someone (whom shall remain nameless, but goes by the initials TT - ahem)

got overly curious and finally could stand it no longer and pushed his way into the chair...

Whose tearstrip, Mommie? MINE. My Tearstrip

The Meezer just sighed and settled into her chair...

(I wish she's assert herself a bit more...)

Three Weeks Left to Sew? Oh NO!!!

I've been keeping my nose to the grindstone (ok, the Bernina) and have managed to create a few more items for National Capital Cat Show:

Then, I found some odd-sized pieces of music fabric that wouldn't work for much of anything except baglets, so I sewed up a few of those in sets of small and large:

And finally started working on items for The Knitting Guild Association's Knit and Crochet Show in Greensboro...

And a few more...

I wanted to share with you, but now I'm off again to work on more items...

The kitties are resigned that playtime is going to have to wait awhile.

Hello...Remember Me? *wink*

As usual, I'm sewing away here, but it does seem to me that I'm not being very good about sharing with you all - at least not as good as I usually am. So I thought I'd show you some of the product that's coming off the Nana Sadie Rose production line!
Here are some of the last cat show items:

and then a few items I've managed to get done towards stock for the TKGA Convention in Greensboro:

I had some of this sushi fabric, and I can't imagine a better place to showcase these items than TKGA. It's cute fabric I picked up for a custom order, and had quite a bit left, so I decided to use it up this way...not really a set, but it could be!

The cats of course, feel as neglected as I'm sure you, my friends and readers, do...They're trying to outdo each other in outrageous behavior so I'll stop sewing and notice them. Tonk played dead the other day...

I'm dead.

Yes, I'm dead, even if your toes did get into the shot. I'm dead.

Really, really dead...

I promise, I'm dead...

The Meezer of course, had to set me straight...

The Tonk is not dead.

Why'd ya hafta tell 'er, Meezer? Why? I had her going good...

Told ya. He doesn't have a clue how to do it right...

And she proceeded to show me how to do it a bit later in the evening.

(they are both fine, no pointed kitty was harmed in the making of this blog post.)

I honor the place in you,

which is of love, truth, light, and peace.

When you are centered in that place in you,

and I am centered in that place in me,

we are one.
