Two in Two DAYS?

I know! Don't fall down from the shock of it all...

I wanted to share a few more items from the TKGA orders:

That adorable Knitting Sheep fabric makes up beautifully in my original Mera bag, but I don't think the customer is planning to use this as her purse! A small project tote, yes. And in front there, is a Squiggle Cat Sidekick (folks either love them or hate them - depending on whether they have belt loops, I suppose!).

Then this print, the Barnyard Sheep, is such a darling print, and this one is made up in a Teabird with the across the body strap. I'm not sure she's a spindler, but the customer was specific about the bag style, and we aim to please. You don't have to be a spindle spinner to want one!

Finally, these three Clarissa 10-inch knitting needle cases, and of the three, I'm the most taken with the dog breeds on argyle. I only recently came upon this print, and I think it's probably not readily available any longer. But the dogs! And knitting (ok, argyle)...

Cats and yarn I find. Dogs and anything relating to knitting is a theme that's very few and far between. I'm delighted I could get these done...and someone is getting a delightful holiday present is all I can say (okay, THREE someones!)

I also managed to squeeze in a Bitty Hat & Bitty Socks to go with the Premie Blanket I showed you earlier for the NoSoKnit contribution:

I know...SQUEEEEEEE!!!!

Ahem. Excuse me. I'll get control of myself here...(but aren't they cute?)

I'm not going to promise that you'll see me tomorrow...Maybe, maybe not. But in the meantime, if these bags and such are enticing you to order your own Nana Sadie Rose item, don't hesitate to visit my Etsy Shop and send me a convo (or for that matter, email me at the address in the sidebar over there). It's getting on toward the holidays, and I'll need a heads up if you plan to gift one of my creations!
*wink*

Bags Bags and Needle Cases!

Scurrying to complete orders before heading out to Richmond in two weeks for the next Nana Sadie Rose show and I do want to share when I can. I'm sorry it's been so long again, but you know I'm beginning to wonder if it won't just end up being weekly that I post? I hope not. But we'll just have to see how it goes.

I finished and mailed this lovely Mavis last week and it's been received and the new owner is suitably delighted! (I just love it when they write back and say, "Please send me more business cards, because I just know this is going to generate a lot of interest!" lol!

This gorgeous fabric is from Robert Kaufmann's La Scala line and we had so much fun using my new iPhone to search for the fabric in the middle of the TKGA show last month! (Yes, I am well and duly spoiled by the iPhone - sigh)

I was able to use coordinates to excellent effect in the interior of the bag:

Then this weekend, I've put together an order for a Violette circular needlebook:

That lovely Asian Pictures fabric I've had in stash a long time. I was so excited when the gal ordered this, as I just knew it would turn out well:

As you open the book, you'll see a "inside cover" that has needle sleeves for double-points and crochet hooks...

There are 12 pockets on six "pages" inside for storing your precious circulars.

One large pocket on the back would be the perfect place to slip a notepad or perhaps a listing of your needle stash.

From the side? Well, I like that there's room to breathe! But it's nicely compact.

I wasn't the only one who was delighted to have these finished (and the iPhone, btw, took all these photos!), the Meezer, my Chief Sewing Assistant was pleased to see me marching down the list of orders...

She was also intrigued by the iPhone...
What's that thing Mommie? It's not a camera, there's NO bright light!

Which is why, dear Meezer, we can see how blue your eyes are, for once!

Out of the Habit!

September went by in a blur, and as a result, I got out of the habit of posting here. Not to suggest that October isn't also going by in a blur, because it is. I'm spending tons of time making orders from the two shows:

And they're moving out the door so fast that I'm struggling to get artistic photos of them. Those above are two orders from the Cat Show and a bag for my Sis-in-Law in the front there. Had to work hers in because it's obviously a fall bag and I wanted her to get full use of it!

Of course work is also demanding much of my time. The end of September began my mad dash to the audit deadline, and I've been scrambling there. Then the Governor stopped by my office, which basically took one day out of my available preparation time.

This year, the pleas for help are way up in number and kind. Of course there's always a need locally for knitted items, and I usually do something for the NoSoKnit event (which this year was postponed to November because of the TKGA Greensboro event being so close by - they would have happened on the same weekend and what a struggle we knitters would have had to decide which to attend!). But this year, of course, I'm knitting for Vermonters who lost everything during the flooding from Hurricane Irene. This is the premie blanket I showed you last time...I've made progress:

And of course, I'm still sewing...and sewing...tho' I do hope to be finished with orders by the end of next weekend! (fingers crossed...)

I'm also really really engrossed in another topic and am detailing that a bit over on Nana Sadie's Place. I've decided to commit again to Meatless Mondays as much as possible this year. And really making it Meatless "Mostdays" for me.

And also trying to stay current on Ravelry (a lost cause, I'm afraid, I'll always be behind there, I fear), and Facebook (where I've managed to hook almost everything to the point of being the place where I find my news, not really a social spot for me), trying to keep current with OWS, and reading both *real* books and Nookbooks...

And Fall has Fell (Thanks, Mom, for that funny), so you can imagine that I'm trying hard to hibernate, and keep ahead of the electric company again: the never-ending, and hardly win-able, battle. But I can try. It's the principle of the thing.

Wow. But I bet you're busy, too, eh?

A Day Lost...

Fall is falling. Pouring rain today, don't think the temps were all that low, but the dampness and probably exhaustion hit and I spent the entire day sleeping with hot packs and muscle relaxers. So far, the evening hasn't seen much relief, so I'm hopeful I can get up and go in to work tomorrow, but will wait to see when the alarm goes off (and after a "good" night's sleep, if that's possible)

At one point this afternoon, The Tonk had commandeered his perch in the front window and The Meezer was keeping me company on the bed. I shut the door quietly and got the extra special toy I'd picked up for her at the National Capital Cat Show:

And she proved she's not the "old Grande Dame" she professes to be when the pipsqueak is around...you should have seen her race across the top of the bed and down to the floor then jumping back up. I stopped the leaping down after only one or two, as she has some arthritis in that front shoulder and I don't want to aggravate it, but what fun it was to see her acting like her old self again!

Later, I finally decided to leave the "sock that will NOT end" and start a preemie blanket for the NoSoKnit coming up in a couple of weeks. Must have a donation for my admission and I put the donated yarn on the needles for a small Feather and Fan project:

The Meezer approves. She especially approves of the bamboo needles!

My Most Popular Bag? Seems to Be...

The Sadie! (It's certainly my BIGGEST bag...)

And at the two shows in September, the most popular fabric is apparently the Sew Catty line...I have FOUR orders for this bag in this fabric! (and a total of 6 orders for the Sadie Bag alone...)

But true to form, Nana Sadie Rose makes no two bags alike.

Another Purchase! And Cats!

For anyone who didn't know, I'm a huge fan of Jane Brocket, starting several years ago when I stumbled upon her knitting blog Yarnstorm. Her photography, her writing style, her love affair with color, all spoke to me. Then Twist Collective came along and an article by Jane appeared with socks and painted fingernails (which my long-time readers will remember I used to sport as well). I had to buy that sock yarn, and I did, and made my own pair.

Jane subsequently published The Gentle Art of Domesticity which sits by my bedside for those minutes before sleep when I treat myself to my favorite sort of eye candy...and then she wrote and published The Gentle Art of Quilting, and I decided I wasn't such a nut for saving every single scrap of the marvelous cottons I use in my bags and accessories for the day when I'd finally have time to return to quilting again.

And now? Now Jane's published THIS:

And suddenly I find myself reading that she'd much rather knit a plain sock, have a book nearby, with a glass of wine, and good friends to chat with. Simple knitting that doesn't require much brain power. (The socks in that photo up there are headed to Vermont once they're finished)

Hmm...I'm thoroughly enjoying this book, and can highly recommend it. It's not that Jane can't knit lace or cables or whatever she wants...she can. But how much more comforting (and don't I agree?) to spend time with friends and family, with knitting close, but not commanding your attention.

The Gentle Art of Knitting has delightful patterns for simple things. And Jane's trademark style of writing that helps you think about your own craft in a different way than you did before.

Of course, I've been sewing, working on finishing orders, and today I managed to complete the last of the National Capital Cat Show orders. I'm ahead of schedule and delighted with that.

But the kitties are feeling ignored again, of course, so they try to amuse themselves with each other:

I had no idea when I brought a little boy home that The Meezer would pick up rather "slutty" behavior. Just look at her snuggling up under his chin there?

And he's most agreeable, dontcha know?

Till she suddenly has had enough, and he's still feeling amorous, when she gets feisty and let's him know who's really in charge.

I'm glad I'm easily amused...
(btw...those photos are taken with my iPhone - so let me know if you think they're any good? I might decide not to bother buying a new camera!)

I Haven't Forgotten the Blog, I Promise!

My computer is sick and in the hospital. As a result, I'm relying on my iPhone to do things and, well, it works, but it's not like the computer for such things as uploading photos to blogger (or perhaps it's just me who isn't aware of the necessary steps to DO this from the phone?).

So, I can't get much out here right now, but wanted to share this:

It's my newest yarn acquisitions. Purple Malabrigo Worsted for the Winter Wonder large cowl.

And then there's a skein of Chugiak by Pagewood Farms. It's a lovely gray-grape light sock yarn that will become a shawl. I don't know which one...any ideas?

(I'll be back, I promise...)

Oh! I'm So GOING To Do This!

Namaste

I honor the place in you,

which is of love, truth, light, and peace.

When you are centered in that place in you,

and I am centered in that place in me,

we are one.
