The Meezer Tagged? Yup!

Ok...Mr. Ace of Robin's Knittin' Coop tagged The Meezer for this little game...Here are the instructions: The player of this game starts with "5 weird things/habits about yourself." In the end you need to choose 5 people to be tagged and list their names. The people who get tagged need to write a blog about their 5 weird things/habits, as well as state this rule clearly, then tag 5 more victims. Don’t forget to leave your victim a comment that says "you’re tagged!" in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

Ok...The Meezer has to take charge of the keyboard now, which of course, she always loves to do...

Goody! FIVE weird things about me? Well, of course, I'm not weird, I'm a Siamese and there's all the difference in the world between the two. But here are some known and unknown things about The Meezer to fulfill this challenge:

No. 1: I'm NOT a showcat and have no patience for those scrawny things most people call "Wedge-head" Siamese. I'm a Classic. And no, that doesn't mean I'm an Applehead - I'm kinda the in-between head shape. Mom is trying hard to insist that my swelled head is bigger even than the Applehead, but that's just a mean thing to say, Mom!
No. 2: Yes, my eyes really ARE that blue. And in my eyes, my Mom is IT - I had another home, where I was a sad and frightened kitty, and didn't get enough to eat, because the family had lots of little kids and not a lot of money. Mom rescued me thru Siamese Rescue cause she was working for them at the time, and since they didn't take kittens, when my old family called for help, Mom said, "I'll take her" and I came home with her! I'm really glad she did. 'Course then she got all those little grandsons and I'm not really happy about them, but Mom lets me hide in the bedroom with the door closed whenever they come to visit.

No. 3: My favorite toy in the whole world is my tearstrip. People cannot believe that I've kept this around for months on end...since at least February. Mom keeps hanging onto the strips that come on the Priority Mail envelopes she gets her fabrics in, just in case I lose this one, but other than the occasional swipe at them, THIS is the one I love bestest...

No. 4: Contrary to popular opinion, I truly have mastered certain aspects of knitting in spite of not having opposable thumbs. I can read charts (see the Flickr photos of me, I helped Mom a LOT with the Highland Triangle Shawl charts), I help her block her lace shawls (again, see the Flickr photos) and I'm learning to understand toe-up socks...that's the instructions from Wendy's knitty.com article down there in the photo. (Oh, and I REALLY like Lucy...she's cool!

No. 5: I have a bedtime ritual. Whenever Mom gets in bed and turns out the light, I rush to the door and cry. And CRY. Mom finally gives up, gets up, and lets me out. THEN after a few minutes...I cry to be let in. And CRY. And then dig under the door, in the event she might be ignoring me. Finally, Mommie gets up and lets me in and I get on the bed and curl right up against her legs as tight as I can. Sometimes I have to dig under the covers and lie against her legs - but that's only in the winter time...

So NOW you know some stuff about me and I'm gonna tag, Moki, Callie, & Tiger, P-Man, Obsidian & Widdershins, Mitzi, and Chaos! Some of them won't write up their game answers really fast, but that's okay...it's the spirit of the game that counts!
TAG - You're IT! (The Meezer)

Crazy Week!

Hi!
Yes, The Meezer knows that she's been tagged by Mr. Ace from The Knittin' Coop and she hopes to give her answers to the meme this weekend...

But the BIG news in Knitnana-land is that I'm now a Nana to THREE boys! BB (known as Baby Brother on my DD's family blog) arrived by c-section Monday afternoon. Nana has been relegated to chauffeur to BS & LS (Big Slugger and Little Slugger) to get them to and from daycare every day, not to mention trying to keep up with the sewing responsibilities for the BIG show at the Dulles Expo Center in September, as well! (And may I just say that I really think DD is a tad nuts, with THREE, count 'em, THREE under age 4? Love you, DD, but glad it's you and not me!)
editedOk...DD gave permission to include DGS #3's photo...his chubby cheeks have reduced somewhat since this was taken, but he's a BIG baby!

So we're not really MIA around here. Just SUPER busy! I'm knitting, too, finished one #78 purple Trekking sock and have cast on for the second...seriously considering re-casting using the Turkish Cast-on tutorial from Deb but perhaps I'll wait and do that on the #108 socks...and learn the two-circs method of knitting socks at the same time? (sigh)

Wouldn't it be just wonderful if we didn't have to work to make a living...it would free up so much TIME for more interesting pursuits! *wink*

Socks? Who Cares?

Mommie thinks she's being so subtle sticking this sock into the picture, making it look like I have another decision to make between the sock and the tear strip...
But just let her try to take that tear strip away...and you'll see who gets all worked up about that *$^%)@** sock! That tear strip is MINE! ... The Meezer

Breaks Can Be Too Brief! But Then...

Wow. Let me tell you that if you EVER get a chance to go to a Michael Buble' concert...GO!! What a showman! And SIL and I had a blast...it was just too hard to come back to reality today...but then, I had an order to fill, so this lovely fabric flew under my fingers tonight and here, voila! The Mardi Gras Mavis! (Fabric by Jenny Beyer) Whatcha think?

We Interrupt These Show Preparations...

because TONIGHT - TONIGHT ... well finally, tonight, I get to go to this Amazing Young Man's concert. (careful, turn down your speakers before you click if you're at the office!)

The concert was scheduled for last month, but illness caused a reschedule ... the radio is playing "Save the Last Dance for Me" and I'm melting to his voice...right here in my office chair! I won tickets way back in April and said this was my 50th birthday present to me...Dear SIL and I will have a blast!

(MFMPPF has a VERY similar tenor...tho' they do not look anything alike! lolol!)

I'll pick up sewing again tomorrow...

Sunday Fun!

If you haven't been to see what Roxanne's been up to, you have to check in right HERE to see why we're just a bit excited around here....

THEN - yup, that's right - more bags! This time, a couple that I think are tons of fun! Hope you will, too! (Hope those who come to the National Capital Cat Show will think so!)

This is the Atomic Divas Mera in the chartreuse colorway, and just take a closer look at that button, will you?
That's an original from Suzann! We'll be teaming up to bring you an even more personal touch to your Nana Sadie Rose bags...isn't that just purrfect?
I'm absolutely sold on this great retro fabric with BLACK kitties on 1950s chairs...
I loved this button...not a Suzann, but cool nonetheless!
The Meezer is NOT amused....

Treats!

This entry is loaded with photos today! I finally got around to acknowledging a couple very belated items, as well as showing off some new stuff!
Way back on July 11 when I bought a lovely shawl pin from Chris (you can see a photo by clicking on my archives...) she included these lovely sea glass stitch markers/row counters! They're just such a lovely color...so far I haven't gotten them to my knitting - they're sitting here next to me where I can enjoy looking at them while I'm on the computer! lololol!
Then you may remember that I won a prize on August 1 in a drawing for Knit Yoga's bloggaversary? Well, when I went to the photos of her work to choose my prize, I fell in love with the beads in a necklace. But I dearly wanted one of her shawl pins! So, I asked...and I was rewarded (see you should always ask!) with this lovely, lovely addition to my Highland Triangle Shawl! You really must visit Hazel's blog and her website which is just getting going! This pin is light as a feather (tho' it looks as if it would be much heavier, doesn't it?) and just gorgeous in the turquoise and brown beads...Thank you so much, Hazel! It's beautiful!
I was so taken with Hazel's work, that when I saw these frog stitch markers, well... you know I just had to have them! I collect stitch markers and I have either purchased or been gifted with some of the nicest ones for sale on the internet over the past year or so, if I do say so myself! These are very special "No-Frog" frog stitch markers! (And frogs are DGS#1's very favorite things, too!)
Note that the rings here are a double loop. There's not a single wire end anywhere to snag your knitting - I just love this design feature! These look as if they'd really weight your knitting down, BUT they aren't in the least heavy! (Weight is something I really do worry about, as my hands just won't hold up to long knitting sessions if the needles and work weigh too much!)
Now, I think I mentioned back in July that I had bought this lovely colorway of Sugar n Cream dishcloth cotton to make my favorite childhood ice cream flavored dishcloths? Here are the two Neopolitan dishcloths (Grandmother's Favorite pattern, free on the web) finally completed! Yes, mindless knitting is pretty much all I can handle these days, and then only for a few minutes at a time...sewing for the National Capital Cat Show takes up most of my evenings and weekends these days. But then it lets me make up lots of Cloths for Crisis, which is a really good charity knitting group, (ok, I'm a co-owner so I'm a bit biased!) (((hugs)))
If I ignore her and stare out the window, sitting right where the sewing machine normally sits, do you think I can stop her from sewing and make her pay attention to me?...The Meezer

I Don't Usually Do This...But...

Kathy at Runs With Needles hooked me in...I like this one, so here goes:
Appetizer: Tell about a toy you remember from your childhood.
My Tressy doll. My family couldn't afford Barbie, but Tressy was a less expensive version. In my fascination with all things related to hair (I almost became a hair stylist!), the fact that Tressy's hair grew, or shortened just by turning a key in her back, kept me occupied for hours. One day all that pulling hair out the top of her head and thru the poor girl's neck caused a fatal injury - a BROKEN neck. The dear is enthroned (still!) in a shoebox with a "silk" scarf wrapped around her neck. She is dressed in her best "Miss America" gown...

Soup: If you could make one thing in the world absolutely free for everyone what would it be? Free quality health care coverage.

Salad: Approximately how many times per day do you think of your significant other? ONLY EVERY SINGLE SECOND...and often thru the night, too *wink*

Main Course: What is something you believe in 100%? I believe in true love and romance and that certain people (MFMPPF and me, for example) are just MEANT to be together! (okay, it's sappy, lovesick romance, but that's Knitnana for you!)

Dessert: Name one thing you have done this week that you would consider "a good deed?" Taking a grumpy, uncomfortable, very pregnant DD out for dinner tonight!

Not the Least Little Bit Surprised!

Found this at Robin's and had to see what came back...nope not the least little bit surprised...story of my life - 5 years of French in school...and wishing all my lifetime...hmmm maybe I should speak to MFMPPF about this?
You Belong in Paris

You enjoy all that life has to offer, and you can appreciate the fine tastes and sites of Paris.
You're the perfect person to wander the streets of Paris aimlessly, enjoying architecture and a crepe.

Someone Else is Wishing, too!

Quit Sewing and Pay Attention to ME! The Blonde Bombshell

Wishing, Hoping, Planning, & Dreaming...

I know...not right now...but soon I hope? I stopped by my LYS today because I had snapped one of my dpns last night working on the purple Trekking XXL sock. And guess what I found? They're carrying Trekking XXL! Got this wonderful colorway (#108) which works so well with denims and saddle browns. Got my dpns. I'd wanted to pick up IK Fall 2006 and the new Vogue Knitting, too, but they don't carry them. She said, "stop by Printer's Ink" which is an independent bookseller locally. I did. They had them. I bought both. Wishing I could start knitting something right now. But...duty calls - bags to make (and miles to go) before I KNIT, to paraphrase Robert Frost! (sigh)
At least I can go back to my socks, now. Thank heavens for small, portable projects!
Oh...drop by Rebecca's blog? She and my DD are about at the same point in their pregnancies, and I know what Rebecca's going thru. Drop her a cheery comment and let her know we all care, and are pulling for that last 4 weeks to fly by...okay?
(((hugs)))

Totally Unrelated...

Mom, stop working and pet me...please??...The Meezer

WIPs? No...FOs! Well...Not Knitting...

Two Kerri bags...black and white kitties!
Two varietys of HypnoCats...pink and purple Kerris
and finally the Retro Kitties & Hearts Kerri (this is VERY limited fabric...only 2 of these in existence!)

Yup, the National Capital Cat Show looms in the near future...holding me in its grip! Do you think I'll ever knit again???? Umm..well, yes, I am knitting but so little it's really sad....a few rows on the purple Trekking sock, a row or two at most every couple of days on the Entrelac Tote...and my Amazing Lace Faroese-style Catharina Shawl is glanced at, picked up and fondled, then set back down. I just don't have the required serenity to work on it right now...probably a good thing that there's no "date" set yet, right? lololol! Fortunately, MFMPPF is as snowed under with work as I am...and is very very good at motivating me to sew...

Challenges & Blog Contests!

Remember back in the spring, when I was focussing on not buying yarn? When I was agonizing that because of the Yarn Focus Challenge, I could only buy yarn one day out of the month? Well, this is the payoff! Wow...Yarny Goodness...3 skeins of Wildfoote in black orchid, two of Trampoline Stretch by Skacel, and a skein of Knitpicks Gossamer in Sunset (which isn't gonna be for socks - but I think I'll make one of the Elizabeth I lace scarves from it!). My best and biggest thank yous go out to Rebekah for all her hard work - I know this had to be a challenge, in more ways that one! And btw...if you scroll ALL the way down to the bottom of the blog you'll find my ticker still ticking away - I haven't started buying indescriminately again. I'm still buying on one day each month...making sure that this is truly the stuff I want, then doing it! The Meezer approves of the additions to stash from the Yarn Focus Challenge, but wishes I'd move things so she can look out the window! The blinds were closed today against the heat - it was 101 degrees when I was driving home from work! Thank goodness for A/C!

OH and more exciting news...and I was the (very, very) lucky winner of KnitYoga's Bloggaversary Contest....I'll show you what I won when it gets here! From across "the Pond!" Thank you, KnitYoga! (((hugs)))
