When Do You Find the Time to Knit?

Lynette asked this question the other day, and it got me to thinking...I, too, am constantly amazed by the quality and quantity of what many folks in blog-land knit...I'm a starter...sometimes I even finish! But with all the things I do to keep body and soul alive, it can be stunning to me sometimes that I get much knitting done. Yet I can look down below and see that I do...

My day is pretty much the same as everyone else's except that usually when I come home from my day job, I work on my bags...either cutting, sewing, or surfing fabric sites and ordering. At least one weekend a month, I'm working on a client's books, but most weekends are spent sewing...all my downtime from those work activities, tho' involve knitting...

I try to get to work about 15-30 minutes ahead to sit quietly and knit a bit at that point. I also take my lunch to work and knit on my lunch break. I carry knitting with me almost everywhere, so if I have a wait of any length of time, the needles are in my hands, and I will usually knit at night before I go to bed. Some mornings, I can get a few rows of simple stuff (dishcloths, fun fur scarves) done while I'm drinking my coffee and watching the news and weather. But with two businesses and a full-time job, it's a challenge, especially to complete a big project.

Now what I find is interesting is how you all fit in the exercise thingy! I need to learn to knit and walk! But with my vision, someone would probably get hurt. *wink*

Exercise? What is that? LOL! Does getting up to dive into the yarn stash looking for just the right colour count as exercies?

I do the exercise thing first in the morning, so that I make sure to get it in; plus, my hands aren't ready for any knitting until I am properly stretched and circulating :)

I finally gave up on trying to get to Curves and got a home gym. Now I work out first thing in the am and the afternoons can be devoted to my knitting. LOL

This week I wound four 560 yard balls and they took 1/2 hour each. I felt it was a good side workout...does that constitute a reason to buy more merino? LOL

I have been thinking the same thing! When is there time to knit? I exercise in the morning... and sometime is I am a total nut and am up early I knit then too... but. I just fit in theknitting when I can, lunch break, waitin in line at the market- no hurry, it is the process that I enjoy.

Most of my exercise comes from wielding knitting needles or tickling the keys of my keyboard. My fingers are in great shape - the rest of me???? {HA} When I lost my job to someone in China 3½ years ago, I thought the world had come to an end. But as the the first early Social Security check's arrival this last December, I'm now officially among the RETIRED and I no longer feel guilty that I should be doing anything other than being retired. Knitting, crocheting, blogging, & taking care of Mom have become the totality of my days. Housework??? {shhhhhhh}
