It's been a pretty interesting year, where I tried valiantly to knit from stash, save for a major vacation - Sock Summit 09, OMG!!! What an EVENT of a liftime! - and generally stay afloat, like everyone else, during one heck of an economic rollercoaster ride...
Here are my 2009 totals for you:
28 Mini Socks
2 Blanket Squares
I never completely accomplish the goals I set out for myself each year and I think 2009 was one year I managed to fail a bit more miserably than before. I did manage to follow through with the Personal Sock Club (12 months of stash sock yarn knit up into socks, one per month). I actually managed to knit 16 pairs of socks this year, and only three of them were newly purchased sock yarns! So I used up 12 months of yarn - actually 13 - and there's another batch of sock yarn OTN as we speak (will no doubt be one of the first FO's of 2010, because it won't get finished tonight!):
I'm almost 1/2 through the alloted yarn for the Misty Garden Scarf...the second skein is wound. I think I need to pick more knits like this as it's been a breeze. The pattern is one I memorized years and years ago (Feather and Fan or Old Shale) and I just knit along one repeat at a time.
On the Personal Lace Front? I promised 3 lace items from stash. I finished Boing! That was good, because it was also part of my Basket of Shame items...I did more lace (in particular, the Valkyrie Seraphim Shawl, my all time favorite knit item) but I just didn't knit much lace from stash ...
Charity knitting was down as well, although I was able to finish the Homespun Shawl I'd started 5 years ago and gift it at NoSoKnit in September - that was yet another item in the Basket of Shame (BOS)! It felt REALLY good to finish that.
Otherwise? The Log Cabin Blanket is still OTN - it will become one of my BOS items for 2010, but more about next year, later (tomorrow!).
The biggest item I wanted to accomplish was my knitting room/office. I failed miserably until about a week ago, when I spent a day working hard at it. It's half done. Perhaps I'll have a weekend to work on the other half soon - in January - because most of that corner of the room is related to my consulting work, and of course, it's time to organize a year's worth of data and put it away to start the new year, so there's HOPE!
Now...I had a nasty little accident last year on this day...was Forester-less for a month, remember?
Last night? I fell hard on the ice at a local restaurant. I'm heading to the doctor today, as I'm definitely all banged up and hurting badly. (But I'm walking and that's really a good thing!) I'll let you know how things go, okay? With a little luck it will just be good and sore and bruised for a bit.
Oh. The mail came yesterday with gift card proceeds:
Ok...the Weight Watchers Magazine wasn't part of the gift card...but that might give you a hint as to some of my plans into the new year (more details tomorrow, so come back by, okay?)
I might as well get comfortable, she's going to be up late tonight, she says, to watch that ball drop. I hate the noise they make when they do, so I'll stay somewhere safe!
Happy New Year!!
